This is the second in a series of blog posts I will be posting in the future. My objective is to help the bride  remain calm, healthy and beautiful. As a photographer I have a behind the scenes look, and often it isn't pretty.

One of the most important decisions you will make is choosing your maid of honor. The maid of honor's job has been diluted, and even ignored many times. As the bride to be you will probably want to choose your BFF or your sister. That's just what we do. What you need to know is there are many young ladies that don't know the responsibilities that come with being the maid of honor, and then there are some that quite frankly just don't care.

Before you ask someone to be your maid of honor educate yourself on the duties expected from her.   I would suggest purchasing a maid of honor planner/kit to give the chosen one. When you give it to her just say something like " you are such an important part of my wedding I would like to give you this to help make your job easier. Make sure you use the word "job". It is a job. It should be a labor of love. It isn't about her finding the cutest dress, standing next to the bride,  posing for photos and walking with the best man. Oh, and drinking the most. It's a commitment! Maybe give her the kit, and add some nice bubble bath and a candle. She is there to take some of the stress from you. She is not there just to look extra special on your wedding day!

I have shot weddings with the maid of honor seemingly on another planet. I have known brides that have had to plan their own shower and bachelorette party. I have seen brides struggle to get ready for the ceremony while the maid of honor is running around doing God knows what!

So please just choose wisely. This is your day, and I want you to be stress free!

P.S. Don't forget to take your vitamin and get plenty of rest.

I have a fun and controversial topic to post tomorrow!
